Editorial Policy
How material on this site gets produced, checked and corrected, and how commercial relationships are kept out of the assessment itself.
We check licence data against the UK Gambling Commission register, write operator descriptions from the operator's own site and product pages, score usability against a fixed rubric, and recheck the whole comparison on a set schedule — independently of which operators pay us commission.
Sources we use
- The UK Gambling Commission's public register, for licence status, account numbers and licensee names.
- Each operator's own website, including its terms and game lobby, for game range, studios and product features.
- Independent gambling trade press, used to cross-check claims about ownership, history and platform partnerships.
We do not use unverified forum posts, anonymous reviews or invented statistics as a basis for any factual claim. Where a detail can't be confirmed — a specific licence number, for instance — we leave it out rather than approximate it.
How scores are built
The usability score on the homepage reflects eight fixed criteria: licence status, game range, live casino, mobile experience, game studios, welcome offer type, customer support and general ease of getting started as a newcomer. Each criterion is assessed the same way for every operator, and the resulting figure is our own editorial judgement, not a number supplied by any operator.
How often we recheck
Licence data is spot-checked against the UKGC register on an ongoing basis and always before a page is republished. Full write-ups are revisited whenever an operator makes a material change to its product — a new app, a change of live-casino provider, a change of licensee — and at minimum once a year regardless. The "last updated" date at the top of the homepage and in each card's licence box reflects the most recent check.
Keeping commercial relationships separate
Affiliate commission funds this site, but it doesn't touch the editorial process. No operator sees or approves its write-up before publication, and no payment increases or protects a score. The specifics of how we're funded sit on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
